Effective Life Cycle Management offers the rail sector remarkable opportunities and considerable competitive advantages. This is the main conclusion that was drawn last Tuesday in the Dutch city of Amstelveen at the international conference Life Cycle Management (LCM).
This conference focussed specifically on the rail sector. Managing the total life cycle of products and services in the railway sector – for both infrastructure and rolling stock – is however relatively new in this sector. Good application of LCM could offer many benefits. This subject was of great interest. Over one hundred participants from 18 countries visited the congress centre in Amstelveen in order to be informed on this topic.
The objective of enabling the European railway sector to learn more about this management tool in order to apply it in practice has definitely been achieved.
